So I am now home, and have been for a week, my luggage however, has yet to make it home to me, last I heard from West Jet, it was Puerto Vallarta....without me, how dare it!
Altenberg was a great last week, the girls finished really well with Canada 1 winning and my pilot, Canada 2 coming 6th. The boys 2man went well, but not nearly as well as expected. Altenberg is a tough cookie of a course.
On Thursday we drove to Frankfurt loaded some bins with sleds, pried an old sled out of a bin which was clearly too small for it, but trust it to the 6 girls there to be able to pull the sled out, by rocking it back and forth and shaking the bin...brains over braun won, as the men were unsucessful! Then we drove back to Altenberg, a whopping 11 hours in the car that day...made for a very long day. The following days we just watched the 4man training. Then on sunday drove back to Frankfurt for real.
That evening, our last in Germany, we went to the Frankfurt Christmas market, which was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life. There were carousels, two of them, one was two stories, simply amazing. The best food, candy, coffee and Gluwein you could ask for. They shut down most of the city centre and set up all these booths to sell christmas things, food, etc, and put out rides. It was the best part of the trip, and a great way to end it.
